In My Own Words - Lindsay M. Pyle
Our, 'In Your Own Words,' segment has allowed us to hear first hand what people love about the county they live in. This week, we spoke to Lindsay M. Pyle, Parks and Trails Director in Somerset County. If anyone knows what beautiful sights Somerset County has to offer, it's Lindsay.
When we asked her what she loved about Somerset, this is what she said...
"Being born and raised in Somerset County, I’ve never wanted to call any other place home. Although leaving temporarily for college and a job, I was very thankful when I was able to move back to my hometown and take a job within the county government. Somerset is home to beautiful rolling hills, small towns, farm fields, open space, large trail networks, and a few large resorts.
No matter what season it may be, you’ll find countless outdoor activities to keep you busy! Summer is full of kayaking in the local waterways and biking for miles on the Great Allegheny Passage. Stopping by the local Farmer’s Market is always enjoyable as well! Fall is great for amazing festivals and events throughout the county while enjoying some of the most beautiful foliage around. You can go skiing at resorts and cross country skiing on trail networks in the winter, and depending on what spring weather brings, you can either still be skiing, or getting an early start on biking adventures!
I love that no matter if you want to go on an outdoor adventure, attend a festival, or sit outside at a quiet country-side fire listening to the summer crickets, Somerset County has a little bit of everything to offer year-round, and that’s why I love my county!"
