Lending a Helping Paw: Cambria County Humane Society Provides Help
With many folks in the area without jobs and steady income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some folks are having a tough time deciding on what to do about providing the food and treats they usually feed to their furry friends. It’s not just families that are being affected by this virus but household pets, as their owners have to make the difficult decision on how much food they’ll be able to afford for them. However, one local humane society has decided to help those who might have trouble getting their pets the provisions they need.
The Cambria County Humane Society has created a way for senior citizens and those who can’t afford the cost to have food and supplies for their pets during the COVID-19 pandemic. “The demand to get pet food is higher so we want to be able to help those who maybe don’t have access or even have the financial ability to afford that pet food,” said Jessica Vamos the executive director of the shelter. It all started on the 10th of April and it continues to be open on Fridays. It will have supplies for both dogs and cats. The shelter asks that those who are interested in using this service call ahead and submit a request first. It will be open from noon to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm every Friday to pick up.
“We don’t want to see any families in our area have to make that hard decision of not being able to feed their animals like they regularly do,” said Vamos. The Cambria County Humane Society also continues to accept adoption applications! #AdoptDontShop
